Hello, my name is Jeff Stein. I am the president of Ideal Meat J&L Inc. of Beech Grove, IN. Our company has been distributing meat in the Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky area since 1950.
After being a happy NECS entrée user for many years, I have always wanted to find a way to implement barcode scanning into our company. I feel scanning is the wave of the future.
I was tired of always wondering if the correct weights were being invoiced and wondering if we had miss-shipped the wrong product. I have always wanted to fine tune our company’s shipping and receiving accuracy.
Recently, Paul McGinnis from Connect Via Solutions contacted me. Paul helps NECS customers get started with their barcode scanning system called entrée.UPC.
I told Paul how I lacked the time and knowledge it took to implement this. He told me that the NECS scanning system was user-friendly, and with his help he could easily train me on how to setup barcodes. Paul told me if I would fly him to Indianapolis for a few days, we would be scanning before he left town. I told Paul, “lets go for it”!
Paul came in on Monday, and by Friday we were scanning!
I noticed some of the products didn’t have barcodes or their barcodes were damaged. No problem. I easily put our own label on it and away it goes. I have also mailed our labels to some of our suppliers and told them to put the labels on before the product arrives here. No problem.
The Symbol wireless scanners and all the equipment that goes with it are just fantastic. It’s amazing, with a small amount of setup, it works with any barcode.
We have an old, chopped up building with many cooler and freezer rooms that have metal on the walls, thick metal doors, fluorescent lighting, and refrigeration units everywhere. Paul placed a wireless antenna in the middle of the building and it works like a champ. I’m amazed at how well the scanner works in this building. The information is transferred to the computer immediately upon pushing the trigger. No pause – just like snapping your fingers.
Now I can relax. Our inventory is correct. We have not miss-shipped a single box. And best of all, the weight of the boxes are going out 100% perfect. You can only imagine how much money this is saving us.
I want to thank NECS for developing entrée.UPC and Paul McGinnis for helping implement the scanning into our distribution warehouse.

I just wanted to let you know what a great piece of software entree.doc is! Installation was simple using the guide. And the program itself is very easy to use! We have been using it now for a couple of months and have realized some great benefits: * Instead of paying someone to file invoices, with entree.doc, this person is now sitting at their desk scanning invoices AND answering inbound calls.
* If a customer calls in with a question about a previous delivery, using entree.doc my customer service rep is able to call up the signed invoice copy and provide an immediate answer.
* Since we no longer need to have the actual invoice copy within reach, we were able to move some filing cabinets out of the office and free up some much needed space.
* No more searching and searching and searching for a mis-filed invoice. It is always at your fingertips!
