Labels and GS1 Formatting
Inventory Production Labels have two new fields providing a new barcode formatting option for the Production Label report that meets GS1 formatting and data requirements for case level traceability.
The "[Barcode] GS1 Meat / Poultry #1" field formats the data properly for encoding to a GS1-128 or EAN-128C including the FNC1 variable length field terminators where required. The "[Text] GS1 Meat / Poultry #1" field prints the well formatted human readable version of the barcode data as text.
An option has been added to display Item Number and Invoice Number values as entrée.UPC barcodes in the label printing system. Label type options are: Customers, Vendors, Picking, Inventory, Lots and Receipt. Any label that utilizes either of those fields can now display them as a bar code.
•The layout of the barcode is as follows:
▪If a GTIN is defined for the item in Inventory File Maintenance then that value is used in the first position preceded by the "01" GS1 GTIN AI. Otherwise the supplier part number from the vendor setup as the production vendor is used and is preceded by the "91" GS1 internal company use AI.
▪The item identifier is followed by the "3202" GS1 variable weight AI identifying the format of the case weight encoded as the next 6-digits as weight in pounds with two places of decimal precision.
▪The weight information is following by the "10" GS1 lot number AI. The next six digits contain a zero-padded lot identifier that is formatted from the current date as 2-digit year followed by the 3-digit day of year. This field is terminated using the FNC1 code to properly indicate the end of a variable length GS1 data field.
The lot information is followed by the "21" GS1 case serial number AI. The remaining 8-digits are the automatically generated unique label number determined at print time. It is in the format of 2-digit year following by an incrementing sequence of 6-digits which wraps around after 999999.
