Modify the process which retrieves the Unit Price for an item so that a freight charge is added into the value which is returned. The charge will be specified as a "per pound" value using the "Freight per pound" field on the "Miscellaneous" page of Customer File Maintenance.

 

For items which are not priced by weight, the specified freight charge will be converted to a "per unit" charge using either Constant Weight or Average Weight as defined for the item in question. The invoicing system has also been modified to track this added charge so that an appropriate value is available for posting into the General Ledger.

The "Extended Freight" amount is calculated off of weight or quantity as appropriate.

An exclusion has been added to prevent the freight from being added into the item's "Extended Amount" value as this modification includes the freight in the item's Unit Price (we just need these calculations to establish the dollar amount of the freight charge).
