•When a customer qualifies for this type of promotion, a message is printed on the invoice, but no product is added to the invoice at no charge. It is the user's responsibility to add the appropriate number of free items to the invoice manually with a unit price of 0.00.
•Because of the passive nature of this promotion it is rarely used.
•Unlike the dollar based promotion, no warning message is displayed when a customer qualifies for the Buy X Get Y promotion.
Starting and Ending Dates
The Buy X Get Y promotion is date sensitive.
•If the starting and ending date is left blank, the promotion is considered to be inactive.
•If the effective dates for a Buy X Get Y promotion conflict with a dollar based promotion, the dollar based promotion will be used.
