This section is for users that are installing entrée for the first time and have never installed the entrée system on their network.

If you are upgrading from entrée V2, please proceed to the entrée V2 to V3 Upgrade Process section now.

The first step in any project is building a solid foundation. The same holds true for a successful installation of the entrée system. In order to setup the entrée network you must have a working knowledge of how to create directories, share resources, and map network drives. If you are unfamiliar with any of these procedures consult your Windows documentation, your Technology support or your network administrator before continuing.

The installation of entrée is a 3 step process. A brief description of each step and its importance to the entrée system is as follows.

1.Install the FPUpdate utility. This program is responsible for installing and maintaining all of the entrée program and data files.

The FPUpdate utility is only installed on your File Server.

2.Update the entrée system and data files using the entrée File Update Utility. This utility maintains key path information as well as the structure of all of the entrée data files.

3.Install the workstation software. This program is the end-user interface into the entrée system. It is installed on each workstation on the network.

Novel networks and Linux operating systems are NOT supported in entrée version 3.
