The Personal Settings tab is used to configure options that apply to the individual user. Most of these values are saved as part of the Windows system registry and must be configured for each Windows login name that will be used on the workstation. This section will detail each of the available options of the personal settings tab.

The Personal Settings tab has 3 internal tabs: Visual Options, Default Settings and Cost/Price Update.

Revised Storage of Personal Settings

NECS has chosen to take advantage of a feature added to Version 3 of entrée and now the Personal Settings of the Cost/Price Update Tab options are stored in the SMUser database.

When you have updated from version 3.6.20 or older to the current version, as each user logs into entrée the system will look to see if their personal settings can be found in the SMUser database. If not, the system will look in the Windows Registry. If a Windows Registry entry is found then that information will automatically be copied into the SMUser database. The Windows Registry entry will be retained for future reference.

#1: The change to this new storage mechanism fundamentally changes the way this feature works, especially in multi-company installations. The original settings in the Registry were attached to the Windows* user account and so they were the same regards of which company you selected or which user account you used to log into entrée.

Under the new design the settings are now attached to the *entrée* user account, so they apply to a specific user account in a specific company in multi-company systems.

#2: At the present time, when a user's settings have been transferred to the database for a given entrée user the Windows Registry information will be retained. If the entry was being deleted then only the first user to log into entrée would have their settings preserved. If the Windows Registry entry was deleted from a machine that is shared between two or more people, or if you are running a multi-company installation, then no one else would have access to the original settings and so the default Cost/Price Update Tab options will default to "Ask me" for them.
